Great Petite Summer Must Haves

Sunday, May 9, 2010

I think my biggest frustration with being SHORT is find pants that fit well. Shorts fall into this category as well. I love a longer short and have taken a few to the tailor to get the length right. These look just perfect - great to see them in a petite size - no tailor needed! All these looks come from Banana Republic Petites Online.

I love the slim line of these pants and the length.

Well fitting petite pants

Monday, April 19, 2010

There are many aspects of finding a great pair of fitting pants. Gaping waist, baggy front area near the zipper, nice fit in the butt and of course the length. I think for a short girl it is just as important to have the right leg cut to create a flattering leg. This is even more important with a crop pant. As you can see on this first pair of khaki pants the box crop pant really cuts off the leg, creating an unflattering break and making the leg look shorter.

A more flattering look is this slim cut leg with a rolled cuff or below the straight leg black pants in the last photo. See how they lengthen the look giving the illusion of a longer leg.

All pants can be found at Bloomingdale's petites.

Look Ageless - good eyebrow wax

Friday, March 19, 2010

This has nothing to do with being short, but I can't say enough about how a good eyebrow wax can make you look younger. It just opens up the whole eye area...especially as you get into your forties. The most important thing is to find a good esthetician. Don't go to a salon where the hair dressers also does the waxing. They do not know what they are doing. Go to someone who specializes in skin care. Trust me! You'll end up with a bad job and wax in your hair. It is a trial and error thing, but you will find the right person...and it could take years of your age!!!

Frustration In Fashion for the short girl

Saturday, March 13, 2010

A petite size woman is considered to be anyone who is 5'4" and under. I read an article once, stating that at least 60% of women are this size. Then why is most of the clothing design for a much taller woman? I have to say that pants that are the length of a 5'4" woman would still be too long on me even with the tallest of heels!

This blog will be about my frustration in finding clothing that fits my 5' tall body. Yes, I am short...very short. I actually was only 4' 11" from the age of 15 to the age of 23. Then one day I noticed my pants were a little short, I discovered I had grown one more inch. I know this is strange, but true. So for the rest of my adult life I have been an even 5 feet tall.

As women we all face finding clothing to look good our bodies a challenge due to shape and size. Now throw into that the fact that you are 4" to 5" shorter than the norm and you will share my frustration in buying clothing off the rack.

My dream is to design a line of stylish petite woman's clothing and sell it on one of the home shopping channels. There is a need out there!!!

Don't even get me started on the issue of pajamas!

Please feel free to share your ideas, tips and thoughts.
