Great Fitting Petite Jeans
Monday, August 15, 2011
I have not posted on this blog for over a year! Why? Because I became so frustrated at the lack of great looking and stylish petite clothing! At 5' tall I am more than a little frustrated. There are a few designers who have a couple of racks in the department store these days, but not all of it is great. I have found that I really like the fit of the Michael Kors Petite Jeans. They just fit well and have a hip up-to-date look. I also like them because they fit well in the hips and come in at the waist with no gaping. I buy most of mine at Macy's, but some of the photos below are from Lord & Taylor.
Great Petite Summer Must Haves

I think my biggest frustration with being SHORT is find pants that fit well. Shorts fall into this category as well. I love a longer short and have taken a few to the tailor to get the length right. These look just perfect - great to see them in a petite size - no tailor needed! All these looks come from Banana Republic Petites Online.
Well fitting petite pants

There are many aspects of finding a great pair of fitting pants. Gaping waist, baggy front area near the zipper, nice fit in the butt and of course the length. I think for a short girl it is just as important to have the right leg cut to create a flattering leg. This is even more important with a crop pant. As you can see on this first pair of khaki pants the box crop pant really cuts off the leg, creating an unflattering break and making the leg look shorter.
A more flattering look is this slim cut leg with a rolled cuff or below the straight leg black pants in the last photo. See how they lengthen the look giving the illusion of a longer leg.
