Frustration In Fashion for the short girl

Saturday, March 13, 2010

A petite size woman is considered to be anyone who is 5'4" and under. I read an article once, stating that at least 60% of women are this size. Then why is most of the clothing design for a much taller woman? I have to say that pants that are the length of a 5'4" woman would still be too long on me even with the tallest of heels!

This blog will be about my frustration in finding clothing that fits my 5' tall body. Yes, I am short...very short. I actually was only 4' 11" from the age of 15 to the age of 23. Then one day I noticed my pants were a little short, I discovered I had grown one more inch. I know this is strange, but true. So for the rest of my adult life I have been an even 5 feet tall.

As women we all face finding clothing to look good our bodies a challenge due to shape and size. Now throw into that the fact that you are 4" to 5" shorter than the norm and you will share my frustration in buying clothing off the rack.

My dream is to design a line of stylish petite woman's clothing and sell it on one of the home shopping channels. There is a need out there!!!

Don't even get me started on the issue of pajamas!

Please feel free to share your ideas, tips and thoughts.

I'm 5' 2'', so I guess I'm lucky. Even at my height, though, pants are still to long. My favorite place to get jeans, since I'm on such a tight budget is Costco. They have Gloria Vanderbuilt stretch jeans for about $15 that are the only ones in my price range that have ever fit well.
